EU CAP Network workshop ‘Promoting pollinator-friendly farming’
Researchers, agricultural experts, and policymakers will convene in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on June 18-19, 2024, for a workshop on promoting pollinator-friendly farming practices hosted by the EU CAP Network. This timely event aligns with the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030, the EU Pollinators Initiative, and the Nature Restoration Law under the European Green Deal.
The workshop underscores the critical role pollinators, such as bees, butterflies, and birds, play in ecosystem health and agricultural productivity. However, recent years have witnessed a concerning decline in pollinator populations due to factors like habitat loss, pesticide use, and climate change.
The workshop agenda is designed to facilitate in-depth discussions and exploration of successful pollinator-friendly practices. Participants will gain insights into
- Implementing hedgerows and cover crops to create pollinator habitat.
- Optimizing agricultural practices to minimize pesticide use and its impact on pollinators.
- Integrating pollinator-friendly principles into existing farming systems.
The EU CAP Network workshop on pollinator-friendly farming offers a significant opportunity for researchers to contribute their expertise and engage with policymakers and agricultural practitioners.
