AMPED’s Participation in the Reformaten Event
Mark Frederiks from Amped, a partner in the EU4Advice project, recently participated in the Reformaten event. He found it a wonderful experience, especially the community food council sessions organized by the Reformaten team. These sessions provided a great opportunity to connect with organizations in Sweden and Denmark. Mark believes that the experiences and structures developed in the EU4Advice consortium perfectly align with those of other groups. He is excited about the potential to collaborate with other consortia and networks to create a “learning network of networks” and make a positive impact together.
The Reformaten event launched during Copenhagen Cooking was held at Spor 10, with support from the Copenhagen-based organizations Foodprint Nordic and Urban Partners. It aimed to test a new idea for envisioning a local food system in a social environment that benefits both people’s health and the planet. The goal is to create a food system that is socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable.
The event was a 2.5-hour meal experience during which participants imagined being 10 years into the future and attending a local food council meeting. In this future scenario, the local community manages the food system, moving food production from large factories to more social and local spaces. This change would give food a new role in people’s lives and how cities and societies are structured.
The event featured a special meal prepared by Chef Marissa Lippert using produce from Vild Hvede. Several experts contributed their knowledge during the event, including Kristin Evensen Friis, a doctor and Ph.D. student, Bent Egberg Mikkelsen, Professor of Urban Food Systems Transformation, Dr. Christopher Turner, Senior Lecturer in Food Systems at the University of Greenwich, and Mark Frederiks, among others.
Mark is enthusiastic about building stronger connections and collaborating to improve food systems for a better future.
