Women in SFSC: EU4Advice brings women’s stories to light

A new EU4Advice campaign puts the spotlight on the producers, advisors and policymakers who keep short food supply chains running.

Short food supply chains (SFSC) bring food closer to the people who eat it. Behind them lies a great deal of work that rarely makes the headlines: growing, selling, advising, shaping the rules. And often, that work is done by women.

2026 is the International Year of the Woman Farmer, declared by the United Nations General Assembly to draw attention to the barriers women farmers still face. In the EU, women manage about one in three farms but receive just 15% of Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) payments (European Commission, Women in farming in the EU, based on Eurostat data, 2023).

To address this invisibility issue, EU4Advice is launching Women in SFSC, a campaign that brings women’s stories to light. Producers, advisors and policymakers will share real experiences, challenges, decisions and advice, in their own words.

Figures show the size of the gap; stories show what lies behind it. They capture the daily choices, the obstacles no statistic can measure and the advice that helps others move forward.

The teaser is already live on YouTube, and the first stories will follow soon. You can watch it here!
