EU4Advice Joins Discussions at Dutch AKIS
This was the focus of the fourth Workbench Netwerk Platteland, which took place on the 15th of November at Den Bosch. Heavily affected by disruptions in public transport, approximately 169 agricultural professionals met at the Noord-Brabant provincial government construction to share information. The conference was inaugurated by Marc Oudenhoven, Deputy of the Province of Noord-Brabant, and Guido Landheer, Director of European, International and Economic Policy at the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security & Nature (LVVN).
After this, Day Chair Ingrid Jansen moderated an active panel discussion. Owners of agricultural businesses discussed directions in restructuring how agriculture was connected to address new challenges. Open Discussions and Co-located Workspaces During the afternoon practical work sessions in the form of interactive workbenches based on dynamic PDFs were organised for participants to delve deeper into the matter.
The talking points included changes in CAP post 2020, how women could promote the new socially connected and resilient agriculture, and the integration of food systems perspectives. Workbench Highlight: Will ‘Cities Leading Food Production’ – EU4Advice Further, there was an inspiring presentation by Mark Frederiks from Amped, Living Lab Manager for Central Europe with the EU4Advice project. He highlighted essential issues related to the food transformation, international food networks, and the changing status of urban areas in food systems. Frederiks discussed implementing a ‘strong, local, and restorative food system in the AMA’ within the Dutch Living Lab and presented how EU4Advice fosters MA partnership. The initiative operates within a multi-functional AKIS with dynamic advisory and policy networks, focusing on capacity-building for European sustainable food systems.
