Advisinar: Digitalisation in Short Food Supply Chains

May 18 | 10:00–11:30 CET | Online
At the next EU4Advice Advisinar, we will discuss the growing role of digitalisation in Short Food Supply Chains (SFSC), bringing together practitioners and experts to share experiences, tools, and practical insights. With the growing influence of digital transformation in the agri-food sector, the question of how to successfully incorporate technology into short supply chains has become a crucial issue among farmers, advisors, and food system actors alike.
Three different perspectives will be addressed during the session:
- Jorge Molero works with Fundación Entretantos, an organisation focused on agroecology, sustainable food systems and participatory rural development. He has previously worked as a food producer and currently works as an advisor to producers and promoters of agroecology and short food supply chain initiatives, supporting the development of local and sustainable food systems.
- Alejandro Wonenburger leads research and development, strategic planning, and operations at Plant on Demand, an all-in-one Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and e-commerce platform for the agri-food sector. The platform digitises and automates processes for local producers, food hubs, and cooperatives, helping small-scale producers improve their competitiveness and facilitate direct sales.
-
Evonne Boland is a co-founder of Open Food Network Ireland, a platform supporting local and ethical food supply chains through digital marketplaces and community food hubs. She has worked extensively on strengthening local food systems in Ireland, including managing local food hubs and developing community-based food initiatives. Her work focuses on reconnecting producers and consumers and building resilient regional food economies.
- Thomas Snellman is a Finnish organic farmer and the creator of the REKO model, an innovative system for direct food sales between producers and consumers. First launched in Finland in 2013, REKO (“fair consumption”) uses social media-based local buying groups to connect consumers directly with farmers, helping strengthen local food economies and short supply chains.
The Advisinar is a valuable experience where agricultural advisors and SFSC practitioners can learn from real-life experiences and discover practical digital solutions across Europe.
We welcome advisors, policymakers, and anyone working in or interested in short food supply chains.
