This workshop will bring together diverse policymakers and public service policy implementers whose work intersects with developing sustainable food systems in Ireland. Through collaboration with the participants the workshop aims to:
* map the range of public policy instruments and public service activities that shape developments in Irish food systems;
* examine what is required within and by public services in order to foster sustainable food systems;
* identify how research can support policymakers and those working in public services to support sustainable food system development.
This workshop is being coordinated by the Research Ireland-funded Food Resource Efficiency Decision support (FRED) project (https://circbio.ie/fred/), which has a food loss and waste prevention focus, and the Horizon Europe-funded EU4Advice project (https://www.eu4advice.eu/), which has a focus on supporting short food supply chains and AKIS development. The workshop will elaborate relevant results of these ongoing research projects to date, and their next steps concerning food systems and circular bioeconomy policy and public services. This workshop is also being held as part of Bioeconomy Ireland Week.
