EU4Advice targets the most important goals from the Farm2Fork Strategy, as it is intended to promote more sustainable and empowering SFSC models, which constitute a promising and emerging sustainable alternative to globalized food systems, with strong potential to empower both producers and consumers while, at the same time, reducing the environmental footprint and enhancing the competitiveness of
the agri-food system.

CoreNET is the EU4Advice twin project.
Funded under topic HORIZON-CL6-2021-GOVERNANCE-01-27 – Developing EU advisory networks on
consumer-producer chains, both projects, covering 27 Member States, work in continuous coordination with the aim of contributing to a strong and effective EU SFSC ecosystem.
CoreNET proposes to respond to a fragmented knowledge landscape, coupled with a lack of clarity as
to essential skills and competencies in all phases from farm to fork. The project aims at supporting the systematic development of more effective Short Food Supply Chains advising, based on bringing together public, private and civic advisors through IT-enabled peer-to-peer learning and mutual support.

Work Packages
Conceptual & strategic foundations: Identification of stakeholders and their needs
Work Package 1 establishes the framework and foundation of EU4Advice by mapping key actors, such as SFSC advisors, identifying AKIS coordination bodies in all 27 member states and finally establishing Living Labs in Spain, Hungary, the Netherlands and Ireland. Provide a basis for subsequent actions.
Integration of SFSC advisors in national AKIS the 27 MS and creation of an EU network of SFSC advisors
The objective of Work Package 2 is to interconnect SFSC advisors from all EU countries, and integrate a new producer-consumer chain approach into EU AKIS, to support better valorisation and uptake of existing knowledge to foster and improve the sustainability of SFSCs,and empowering EU farmers and SMEs through capacity building.
Development of contents and tools for SFSC capacity building
Work Package 3 focuses on three main aspects: First, the development of innovative contents and tools to facilitate the upscaling of SFSC to increase the viability and sustainability of European farms and food SMEs. Second, elaboration of co-designed guidelines and tools for SFSC related advice and training material and, third, promoting cost-effective innovations that improve the economic, environmental and social performance of SFSC businesses.
Development of interactions with local, regional, national and EU policy makers
Work Package 4 will involve relevant EU, national, regional and local policy-makers in the process of adaptation of the key regulatory frameworks, establishing an EU network, to improve the functioning and incidence of SFSC in Europe.
Digitalization and consolidation of the multi-actor networks
Work package 5 will support, invigorate, consolidate and perpetuate the networks and interactions established in the project through the use and augmentation of digital tools and multi-actor events. This includes establishing and maintaining several European networking and sharing platforms.
Dissemination, Exploitation & Communication
measures for a wide range of relevant audiences. A tailored approach will be developed and followed to reach all relevant actors in consumer-producer chains, academia and general public.
